MOST COMMON CAUSES:
A lot of research has been done to find an answer to this question.
This actually has a strong genetic component although there may be exceptions to the rule But by & large,
If one parent is near sighted (Myopia) or far sighted (Hypermetropia) the chances of child having the refractive error is about to 25-30%.
If both the parents are wearing glasses, then the risk ratio of child inheriting it goes up to 60%.
There are no benchmark figures as this can be affected by the severity of refractive error which means,
If both the parents have high myopic of e.g.: -10.00D, they are more likely to pass it to the children than both parents who have about -1.50 D refractive errors.
Similar results have been seen for ‘+’ no’s (hypermetropia) & astigmatism (cylindrical number).
But we have to remember Environmental & nutritional factors
Children spending too much time indoor & focusing on near objects such as reading & excessive gadget use have increase risk of developing myopia.

So you should ideally dispose off the monthly lenses after one month of use & Daily disposables after one day of use.
The reason for this is that disposable lenses are thinner & high water content lenses. Hence they are more comfortable on the eye. But because of this feature, they attract Protein deposits easily.
The protein deposits from our natural tears then lead to eye allergies & inflammations. Therefore they should be discarded accordingly.
Also contact lenses should never be flushed in to the drain or sink as the microplastics damage our environment.
They should be thrown into the dustbin with our normal garbage.
LASIK, a time tested procedure for vision correction has its limitations in the extent of refractive error corrections. In general LASIK results are outstanding till about -6.00D of myopia. So when you are having high myopia i.e. refractive error above -6.00D; ICL surgery becomes the preferred choice (Phakic lens implantation).
Phakic lens implantation is a lens which is implanted in eye in available in 2 varieties.
VISIAN ICL: Manufactured by Staar surgicals (Switzerland); which is an imported version.
IPCL: which is an Indian version.
Both these lenses are not dependent on minimum corneal thickness requirement which is a pre requisite for LASIK.
Therefore there lenses can be used for high myopia stretching upto -20.00D.

What happens to your eyes when you sleep wearing your contact lenses,
Your risk of an eye infection increases significantly. In serious cases these infections can cause permanent corneal damage & vision loss. Despite some contact lenses being approved for overnight wear, it is still not recommended to sleep with there lenses.
When you are awake, blinking of your eyes keeps your eyes moist & oxygen can flow in through the tears which are produced.
Contact lenses cover your cornea, significantly cutting the amount of oxygen & moisture your eyes can receive & when you are sleeping with lenses on, the oxygen supply to cornea decreases further. Without enough oxygen a state called hypoxia develops, whereby the cells in cornea lose their ability to fight bacteria effectively.
Hence it puts you at an increase risk of bacterial or fungal keratitis.
But if you still make mistake of sleeping with lenses on & you can’t remove the dried out sticky lenses easily next morning don’t tug at lenses. Instill several drops of lubricating eye drops in your eyes to wet the eyes so that the extra lubrication can dislodge the lenses.
Also don’t wear your contact lenses for a day & notice how your eyes are feeling. There is Pain, blurry vision, dryness, redness, extra watery or soreness. Please consult your Eye surgeon.
Generally no, an ICL surgery is not affected by tissue or cornea related changes which happen in LASIK.
In fact chances of regression or myopia returning after ICL surgery is far miniscule or compared to myopia returning after LASIK surgery. When we talk about high myopia or power above -6.00D.
The chances of myopia returning are high in very high myopia on some of there patients tend to have a condition called Progressive myopia where in the axial lengths of eyeball keeps increasing throughout life.
Also a small number of people may undergo lens related changes with age which can cause myopia to be induced in the age.
